Who Exactly Are You?
I'm Zephyr and the dog you'll see a bunch here is Vesper. This is our joint personal art, professional, and personal website.
I consider mutual aid, interconnectedness, and relentless compassion to be central to how I navigate life. I have worn many different hats over the years and enjoy trying on as many as possible. Some of these include: painter, researcher, writer, national/international hitchhiker, burlesque performer, squatter, dissident, truck stop connoisseur, student, caseworker, citizenship test interpreter, vagrant, inmate, teacher, and more. I have had an enduring fascination with, and love of, food and learning. Much of my research and work has centered on the weaponization of food systems by systems of power, and the utilization and reclamation of food in liberatory struggles. I believe in taking action to facilitate autonomy for anyone and everyone regardless of class, race, gender, species, and any other assigned categories.
Vesper is the most emotionally intelligent individual I have ever met. This pup was born on a farm on Hualapai/Havasu Baaja/Dine/Pueblos land, but had a puppyhood spent hitchhiking around the country. Vesper is extremely outgoing, charismatic, and endlessly adorable. Vesper loves chasing other animals (even when it's a terrible idea) and will disappear for extended periods while attempting to catch a squirrel or a deer. This pup is highly confident and knows how to bound through cactus fields unscathed. By the age of two, Vesper became a registered service dog and became the first and only dog in the world with Ecosa Certification in Regenerative Ecological Design. This accomplished canine has been a speaker at the International Food Studies Conference in New York City and volunteered on several ocasions with Mutual Aid Disaster Relief. Vesper has touched the lives of countless people with an abundance of charm, compassion, intelligence, and elegance.
